  • How many people will I meet?

    At a typical speed dating event you could meet and interact with up to 30 potential dates. However, due to the nature of the event, size of the venues and
    possible no shows, it is sometimes difficult to guarantee the same number of dates at each event. There are many variables that contribute to a party size.
    Please know that we have done our best to completely book every party and encourage you to mingle at the breaks and after the party with all the participants.

  • What should I talk about during my speed date?

    Several studies have shown that most people who attend speed dating evernts have decided whether or not they are interested in the person sitting across the
    table from them within seconds of sitting down. However, since you have 3 to 5 minutes you may want to discuss topics to determine if you have mutual interests.
    The topics are ultimately up to you. Some example topics include: industry you work in, area you were raised, travel experiences, favorite music, sports, smoking
    or drinking preferences, special interests, children, family, long or short term relationship intentions, or other interests.

  • What should I wear to the speed dating event?

    Wear something that is casual, laid back and appropriate for a first date, you will want to be comfortable with your appearance. You may also want to take the
    venue into consideration, if the location is upscale and trendy, make sure to tailor your clothing appropriately.

  • How should I act during my speed dates?

    Be as comfortable as you can, be secure in knowing that everyone else you are meeting is there for the same reason, and if they want to meet you again outside
    of the speed dating event, it is because they are genuinely interested.

  • What personal information is shared at the speed dating event?

    Only first names are given at our speed dating events. Please do not ask for last names, exchange business cards, email or phone numbers. After each 3 to 5
    minute date, write down only the person's first name, their 2 or 3 digit reference number and a small reminder to yourself of who you just met. If you would like
    to go on a private date outside of the speed dating event, just check the appropriate box on your reference sheet. If that same person is also interested in you,
    Gay Match Chicago will provide the two of you with each other's contact information for either of you to initiate another date.

  • What determines the length of time for each date?

    The length of time spent with each of the people you meet at our speed dating event is established by the organizer and is usually determined by the number of
    participants, usually each date is between 3 to 5 minutes. For the entire evening you should expect to spend between 2 to 4 hours at an event.

  • Are all Gay Match Chicago events pre-pay online and how much do they cost?

    Registering is FREE. You only pay if you choose to attend an event. All events are pre-pay, when clicking on the appropriate link. You may choose to pay by
    credit card or your PayPal account. A typical event is about $40.00 US.

  • What if I sign up for an event and then need to cancel?

    In the event you need to cancel a credit voucher will be given for another Gay Match Chicago speed dating event. You will need to cancel 5 days before the event
    date and your credit voucher will expire within 6 months of the issue date. To cancel you need to e-mail Gay Match Chicago 5 days prior to your event and request
    your credit voucher for another event, it will not come automatically. We do not refund your credit card. Events are non-transferable to another customer.

  • How do I get my credit voucher for another event?

    First you must cancel 5 days prior to your scheduled event by sending an email to support@gaymatchchicago.com and request a credit voucher. Then you will need
    to select another event within 6 months of your original cancellation date.

  • Can I walk up to an event and pay cash at the door?

    If we have not reached the maximum capacity for an event and it is possible to accommodate a walk up there would be an additional charge of $10 than the online
    ticket price.

  • Are speed dating events ever canceled by the organizer?

    We use our discretion to move an event date if volatile weather strikes or when unforeseen situations arise. If you cannot make the new event date, we will issue
    a credit voucher to you for a future event. We also reserve the right to combine age groups when needed.

  • How will I be notified if I am moved from a waiting list to a final guest list for an event?

    If we can accommodate you, we would contact you 24 to 72 hours before the speed dating event and let you know that a seat is available. You would then have
    the option to purchase a ticket. It is best to get on a Guest List as soon as an event opens, due to high demands. A second time slot for an event may be created.
